Why Set an Alarm for 10:00 PM?
10:00 PM is one of the most recommended bedtimes for adults according to sleep research. A large UK Biobank study found that falling asleep between 10:00 and 11:00 PM was associated with the lowest risk of cardiovascular disease. Going to bed at 10 PM allows for 8 hours of sleep before a 6 AM alarm or 7.5 hours before a 5:30 AM alarm. A 10 PM alarm serves as a "lights out" reminder to stop scrolling, close your book, and actually get into bed.
Tips for Your 10:00 PM Alarm
- Falling asleep between 10-11 PM is linked to lower cardiovascular risk
- Use this as a "screens off, lights out" final reminder
- Your bedroom should be cool (65-68°F / 18-20°C) for optimal sleep
- If you are not sleepy at 10 PM, you may need more physical activity during the day
- Avoid alcohol close to bedtime — it disrupts sleep quality even if it helps you fall asleep
How This Alarm Works
Click Set Alarm and leave the browser tab open. A live countdown shows exactly how long until 10:00 PM. When the clock reaches the target time, your chosen alarm sound plays on repeat until you dismiss it or hit snooze (which delays the alarm by 5 minutes).
Choose from four alarm sounds: Standard Beep for a clear, attention-grabbing alert; Gentle Chime for a softer notification; Digital Alert for a crisp, staccato tone; or Ascending Tone for a gradual wake-up. Use the Test button to preview each sound at your current volume.
Important: Keep the browser tab open for the alarm to work. You can switch to other tabs or minimize the window, but do not close the tab. Make sure your device volume is turned up. For critical alarms like waking up for a flight, use a backup alarm on your phone.
