Understanding the CET to UTC Time Difference
The standard difference between CET and UTC is -1 hour. CET to UTC is a simple 1-hour conversion used across most of mainland Europe. Berlin, Paris, Rome, Madrid, Amsterdam, and Warsaw all use CET. Since much of the tech and financial infrastructure runs on UTC, European developers and traders convert frequently. During CEST (late March to late October), the offset becomes -2 hours from UTC. The EU has debated abolishing seasonal clock changes since 2018 but has not yet enacted the change.
Best Meeting Times: CET and UTC Overlap
CET business hours (9 AM–6 PM) are 8 AM–5 PM UTC. The 1-hour difference makes coordination with UTC-based systems and UK partners straightforward — there is near-complete overlap of working hours.
